Great news for Rogue River fishing from the Oregon Department
of Fish and Wildlife. For the last couple years the salmon fishing in the Rogue River has been on a decline. This spring the salmon fishing was closed in the ocean off the Oregon coast. The closure seems to be working in the sense that we are seeing an increase of both the spring and fall Chinook salmon runs. Now the ODFW has just published the number of Rogue River "halfpounder" and we are on pace to pass the record number of "halfpounder" of 238,870 set in 2000.
